Goddess Icons / Spirit Banners are sacred images of the divine feminine from the many cultures of the world. Each image was created and revered at some time in human history.

The first banners in the series were for an exhibition in 1995 at the Celsus Library in Ephesus,Turkey where they flew for the month of July spreading their energies. Since then, the banners have blossomed from eighteen to over 150 today. I take the bannrs to sacred sites to empower, teach and share their stories around the globe in Australia, China, France, Germany, Greece, Malta, Finland, England, Italy, Czech Republic, Poland, Mexico, Canada, Peru, Russia,Turkey, Ghana, Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, the U.S. and Hawaii.

The designs reflect the cultural image making traditions of time and place in the world and in art history. They portrayimages of the divine feminine--the Goddess. They can be grouped by time period; i.e.Paleolithic, Neolithic, Bronze Age, Greco-Roman, Celtic, MesoAmerican; by image, i.e. Great Mother, birthing, flowering, death, maiden, crone: or by symbol, i.e. snakes, lions, shells, labyrinths.

Made of rip-stop nylon, the banners are painted, sewn, collaged and Xerox transferred. The colors are bright and strong..Most of the banners are 36 inches wide by 72 inches long. Two are circular like wind socks, Matrioshkas of Russia ( 8 ft. x 16 ft.) and Pele of Hawaii ( 4 ft. x 8 ft.).

The banners may be hung with light coming through them or on a wall with light reflected from them. They also hang with fiber glass rods and clips and they are grommeted for suspension with kite or fishing line. They can hang from poles and be carried in a procession. At Machu Picchu we anchored them with tent stakes. Strong sticky masking tape can be used as well.

The banners are portable, lightweight and can be shipped easily. They are available for conferences, exhibitions, sacred journeys, and purchase. Please contact Lydia at: LYDIARUYLE@aol.com if you are interested.
